Behind the Music - This is My Story
At seven years old, I was homeless, hungry, freezing, and learning just how cruel the world could be. I survived kidnapping, abuse, abandonment, and years of fighting battles no child should ever have to face. Those wounds followed me into adulthood, through abusive relationships and struggles I'm still healing from today.
I lost my dad in a fatal motorcycle accident on Christmas Day, and now I'm facing the heartbreaking reality of losing my mom to terminal cancer.
But through it all, I have five beautiful reasons to keep pushingβmy children. Everything I do is fueled by the determination to give them a life better than the one I knew.
I've danced a little too close to death, a few too many times, to take the smallest things for granted. Somehow, I still see beauty in a world that's shown me so much ugly. I believe a single smile can save someone's life.
Music is my therapy. It's where I put the pain, the memories, the anger, and the love. My hope is that somewhere, someone hears my words and realizes they're not alone. That somebody sees them. That they matter.
And don't let all that sentimental stuff fool you. I've still got a little hood in my soul, and every now and then DirtyJZ comes out to rattle your windows, shake the neighborhood, and remind a few grown men to sit their asses down. π
Real life. Real pain. Real music. Real Recognize Real.
